With a 2-4 hour time investment, our certified fit specialists will optimize your bicycle’s positioning and your personal interface with it, resulting in the ultimate combination of efficiency and speed.


THE IMPORTANCE OF FIT 

Pedaling a bicycle is a repetitive motion, and it is not unusual for a cyclist to accumulate in excess of 5,000 pedal revolutions per hour.  At that rate, injuries can easily occur if the rider is overextending their knees or back, or is compromising efficiency on the bike due to improper fit or riding technique. Correct body posture on the bike can prevent injury, eliminate pain, make cycling more enjoyable, and improve performance and endurance.

Bicycling is all about movement.  Not just turning the pedals, but how you sit in a range of positions during a ride, over the course of a week, even the span of a season.  A cyclist spends more time in continuous motion than virtually any other sport.  Power, endurance, speed, and comfort—the benefits you and every cyclist wants—are intricately related and work together in synchronicity. The only way to ensure the pinnacle of potential in each aspect is a properly tailored fit of your bike to your body.

Your saddle height, fore-and-aft position, and cleat placement will be adjusted to help reduce injury potential and improve your position and power on the bike. Adjustments to your stem and handlebars may also be made. Recommendations for other changes (bars, stems, etc.) may also be discussed.

The fitting process begins with a detailed rider interview during which we will evaluate your riding history, goals, comforts and discomforts, general physical lifestyle, and any past injury history, if appropriate.

Next, we will perform a general assessment of your unique physical measurements. Range of motion, hamstring and hip flexion, leg tracking, ankle supination and pronation, and back flexion, are all evaluated and recorded.

During your fitting we evaluate your riding history, cycling aspirations, physical goals and experience. Combining this overall history with the unique fitting capabilities of the Retul fit bike and real time video monitoring, we then establish your ideal fit. In the same time as a typical lunch meeting, we provide in succinct, exacting form, a vision of the bike your riding demands.
