product spotlight: 7Mesh apparel

By Evan Lee

Those of you visiting the shop in recent months have likely noticed the new apparel lines we’ve recently added. Today we’re going to have a look at one of them, Squamish B.C.’s 7Mesh.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: 7MESH APPAREL

As technical fabrics get more, um, technical, many clothing companies are racing to market with their interpretations of how best to apply new textile technology to the needs of cyclists in varying geographical zones. Commendable to be sure, but does the gear actually work? Did they first test it out in the real world to determine affectivity?

That’s one of the big draws to 7Mesh. They aren’t just marketing a cool new fabric in a snazzy new design. They are creating apparel that gets a rigorous real-world testing, revision, and refinement before it ever comes to market. Over and over, better and better, until it’s worthy of the 7Mesh imprint.

how it came to be

The minds behind 7Mesh were already seasoned outdoor adventurers and designers for a high profile outdoor technical apparel maker. As avid cyclists, too, they realized that while many other outdoor adventure categories such as climbing were benefitting from technical gear advances that cycling gear was not.

In 2013, they decided this was a problem needing a sophisticated solution so they started 7Mesh in pursuit of making better cycling kit for road, trail, and gravel. They call it “alpine-grade bike clothing for riding in all conditions.”

Innovation often happens because the end-user can’t find what they want on the market. So they make their own. Using and examining other maker’s products, the 7Mesh team made prototypes to improve where they saw the need, then they went out and tested it to see where they could refine again. Building their unique designs with premium textiles, innovative shaping, and advanced construction methods, they began developing their collection. This R&D methodology has resulted in some of the finest cycling apparel on the market today.

crash replacement

What?  For clothing?!  You heard it right – 7Mesh has a warranty and crash replacement policy normally reserved for hard goods. Their products are guaranteed against defects, materials, and workmanship over the natural lifetime of the garment. They will even repair items when possible, if you so desire.
