introducing: 2023 yeti super bikes

By Evan Lee

Just when we think Yeti can’t make their awesome bikes even better, they go and do exactly that.

A couple weeks back we got a sneak peek and test ride of the new 2023 Super Bikes with the Yeti crew over at Floyd Hill.

Yeti’s 2023 engineering enhancements feature newly refined frame geometry providing a more balanced ride. These micro refinements, when coupled with the new leverage rates and engineering upgrades to the Switch Infinity system, results in distinct performance improvements.

As a 1990’s-era Yeti tagline promised: "Faster and faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.” The new Yetis deliver on that promise. The famed Yeti/Fox Factory Team just got even faster. With these new bikes, you can, too.

what's new?

All kinds of good stuff!

This is the culmination of two years' work from Yeti's engineering and product teams.  The goal was to improve the already proven SB Switch Infinity platform by updating the kinematics and minutely examining every millimeter of detail to make the bikes faster, smoother, quieter, and easier to service.

Yeti’s 2023 engineering enhancements feature newly refined frame geometry providing a more balanced ride. These micro refinements, when coupled with the new leverage rates and engineering upgrades to the Switch Infinity system, results in distinct performance improvements.

switch recalculated

The Switch Infinity system has been modified on T-series frames / builds and comes equipped with improved seals, bearings, and hardware. This is the newest iteration of Yeti's translating pivot suspension design, promising enhanced longevity, sensitivity, and strength.

The SB120 gets a unique update this year. Where the SB115 had the Switch mechanism placed at 90° from the standard installation in all other models, SB120 now has it in-line as well. T-Series frames only for now.

bearings & collets

The next generation Switch rides on 100% standard size cartridge bearings secured with machined floating collet axles. The bearings are pressed into the linkage assembly instead of the frame parts, boosting longevity and creating perfect alignment.

geometry

Down to the millimeter, Yeti's engineering team has tweaked and refined each and every aspect of the frame to deliver a quantum leap forward in how well these bikes ride.  The main frame design has been refined to provide more frame/ground clearance and overall chassis stiffness. That stiffness results from new carbon layup methods to provide a precision feel and just enough flex where it’s needed.

Size-specifics

Size-specific seat tube angles and chainstays. The seat tube angle is designed to keep riders of all sizes in a more powerful pedaling position, while the chainstays ensure the rear center of the bike is proportionally correct.  More front travel than rear provides balance and a more neutral rider position.

WISHBONE

Yeti's patented two-piece wishbone shock extender ensures optimal clamping, shock compatibility, and ease of removal.  This style of extender optimizes leverage rates and pushes the shock forward in the frame, allowing for decreased standover height and increased downtube clearance.

improved shock tuning

Yeti has been performing in-house tuning to ensure seamless pairing of kinematics and shocks.  Using a shock dyno, data acquisition, and test-pilot input, Yeti has achieved perfect harmony to deliver the most from their suspension design and hardware.

other newness

full drop

Full-stroke dropper posts are accommodated with a shorter seat tube allowing most riders to run 150mm post on Small frames, 175mm on Medium frames and 200mm+ on the larger sizes.

threaded co-molded bB

The threaded aluminum bottom bracket shell with internal ISCG-05 tabs is co-molded into the carbon during layup making for a more durable and easier to service installation.

cable routing

Internally routed cable tubes with secure closures at entry and exit points eliminates rattle and rub for the easiest management and quietest ride.

frame protection

A new downtube protection system provides edge-to-edge coverage and is easily replaceable. A two-piece system, the foundation is a rubber piece providing cushion against the frame with a hard cap to handle impact resistance.

SB140: Wheels

For 2023, the SB140 gets 29er wheels!

The flickable fun of the SB140 with OG 27.5 hoops is still being offered as well.

Mmmmm, choices.
